Red Marine’s recent intensive involvement with New Build Pipelay and Construction Vessels has been interesting and rewarding.

Our role has evolved over time from providing design advice using our breadth of knowledge of lay systems, to executing a more central role playing a key part of the development team.  This work has involved:

• reading and understanding the installation specification documentation
  
• developing system and equipment specification to meet the installation requirements
• creating 2D working system layouts
• appraisal of third party equipment specification
  
• providing weight and centre of gravity estimates for stability calculations
  
• developing these to visualise the proposed arrangements through 3-D INVENTOR models
• generating operational sequences, cycle timing analysis and risk analysis
• providing engineering drawings as well as sales and promotional images
  

The work has covered items such as;

• Rigid Reel Lay
• Flex/Umbilical Lay
• J-Lay
• Crane Operations
• Deck Handling of products such as PLETS, Pipe Stalks and Flexible End Terminations
